Farmers and contractors have yet another trailed fertiliser spreader to choose from as Ryetec enters the market with the Gustrower range from Germany. One of the key differences between this machine and many of its competitors is that it uses a chain and slat moving floor to deliver material to the hydraulically powered spreading discs. The model on show has a capacity of 8.5m3 but the entirely trailed range goes from 5m3 to 12.5m3. Mark Harrison of Ryetec says the chain and slat system does not suffer from slippage like a belt and the slat is still able to deliver even lumpy material to the discs which can spread up to 42m. He adds this is proven by an independent research station in Denmark where Gustrower keep a machine so up to date spread charts can be provided. Application rates are electronically regulated and the spreader is GPS compatible. Owners can have single or tandem axles and there is a range of specialist application systems. The 8.5m3 version on show carries a price tag of £41,000. Ryetec will also be offering the Gustrower range of chaser bins which it manufacturers. The pto powered unloading auger can be driven in the 540 range for when the chaser bin is being used to fill fert spreaders or seed drills and operated at 1,000rpm where output is the aim such as when handling cereal crops. There are three models with capacities of 21, 25 and 32m3 which translates to 16, 20 and 25t with single, tandem and tri-axle running gear. To make cleaning easier the floor under the full length hopper auger can be swung open.
